Record for the Oceanos Blog

Wow, I just had a look at my hits and today so far I have had 614 hits and it is only 08:23 in the morning! Mostly from America, I would love to know what show was on TV which would have provoked all these hits, can someone let me know please!

Michael Brown said...: I also saw it on a show called "Shocking Videos" on American TV (believe its on the Spike channel). It showed what happened, the efforts of Moss Hills and the other entertainers to help rescue all the passengers, and the incompetence of the captain. It shows him trying to justify what he did by saying 'when I say abandon ship, that means everyone'.; 21 July 2009 at 00:12

Hi, My name is Rose, I am one of the Survivors of the Oceanos which sank off Coffee Bay on the Wild Coast of South Africa on August the 4th, 1991. As one of the largest rescues in maritime history I was rescued by helicopter 2 hours before she sank but you can read my story here. I have created this blog in memory of the Oceanos and all who sailed on her.

The boy stood on the burning deck Whence all but he had fled; The flame that lit the battle's wreck Shone round him o'er the dead.

Yet beautiful and bright he stood, As born to rule the storm;A creature of heroic blood, A proud, though child-like form.
